Effect of zinc in pre-eclamtic pregnant women were observed in this
study. The blood samples were collected from the pregnant women. The
subject group comprised of 105 pregnant women of all three
trimesters. The control group comprised of 12 samples of non-pregnant
women.Atomic absorption spectrophotometer was used to determine the zinc
level in the blood serum samples. The overall blood zinc level (mg/L) of
subject groups S1, S2 and S3 in different trimesters were 0.78, 0.53,
0.56 respectively, while in control group was 0.61. The blood zinc level
of subject group S1 was non-significantly higher as compared to the
control and in subject group S2 and S3 was non significantly lower as
compared to the control. Decrease in the blood zinc level was noted with
the increase in the trimester. The systolic blood pressure (mm/Hg) of
S1, S2 and S3 subject group were found 123.6, 123.3 and 125.9
respectively. The diastolic blood pressure of S1, S2 and S3 subject
group were measured 85.96, 82.16 and 89.78.so zinc level in
pre-eclamptic pregnant women was found lower as compared to the control,
while zinc is an essential metal which is involved in the formation of
several enzymes and their working
