Mike scrambled out of the trench, and fell beside Jay. Nobody touched Mike, no one tried to attack him, but he wasn't taking any chances. His Laserscan was still poised to take out anyone who came too close. 'Jay!' He touched his partner, and felt a warm stickiness. 'Oh Jay, no, don't do this.' ... Mike sprang to his feet. 'Where are you?' His voice echoed around the street. He levelled his Laserscan but he could see no one. 'You want me too, don't you? Come on! But I'm going to take a few of you with me.' His partner dead, Watcher Mike Merrick is alone. His job is to rid society of the Unclean, but now it seems the Unclean will rid themselves of him. Then things take an unexpected turn when, injured, he is rescued by the very people he wants to destroy... Fast-paced, gripping futuristic action adventure set in a dystopian world where getting old or sick or not conforming to the government's exacting standards means losing everything; a challenging story of desperation, risk, and the nature of forgiveness; is anybody beyond hope?
