This is a first grounded theory research on career development in China,
reflecting contemporary Chinese managers' career changes shaped by the
transitioning nature of the society. Through in-depth interviews and
analysis, the study derived a theory of managerial voluntary career
transition centered on a core category of career authenticity. This
research project has received the 2012 Academy of Human Resource
Development Dissertation of the Year Award. The proposal of this
research has received a second prize of Li Ning Dissertation Proposal
Award from International Association of Chinese Management Research
(IACMR) in 2010.
