After various transgressions and crimes, four men find themselves
together in the grueling training regime that only the Foreign Legion
can administer. The events prior to enrolling in the Legion are full of
adventure and excitement, resulting in shootouts, murder and executions.
Believing themselves to be safe and out of harms way, they could not
have been more wrong. Danger lurks around each corner, and the men are
living on their wits end. Not only have they a vicious enemy to worry
about, but the cruel and sadistic NCO's are forever on their backs,
looking for an excuse to punish them for the slightest misdemeanor.
After considering desertion, and the terrible punishment incurred, they
decide to train as parachutists to escape the wrath of their tormentors.
With the promise of better pay and conditions, they all agree, and
undertake the grueling training before being given their coveted wings.
Now fully fledged parachutist, they are sent on a mission to Vietnam in
Indo China, to act as rearguard whilst the defenders of the outpost
garrison, attempt a divisive retreat. Being overwhelmed and outnumbered,
the rearguard must decide to surrender to a cruel and sadistic enemy, or
take their chances escaping over mountains and jungle to reach French
forces and regroup. The alternative to escape is to be interned into a
vicious and barbaric prison camp, where executions and torture are
practiced on a daily basis. Those unfortunate enough to be imprisoned
there face starvation, and torture on daily basis. Escape is out of the
question as well as being an impossibility. However there are those
there that risk their lives in a desperate attempt to break free.
