After finding herself pregnant from a one-night stand, Cassandra makes
plans to raise her child alone. She makes the move to San Francisco and
finds a job as a waitress in an Italian restaurant, an apartment close
by, and new friends that will become like family. She is barely making
ends meet but the joy and love she feels when her daughter is born is
worth everything she has given up.
Unexpectedly, opportunities start to present themselves. Her passion and
talent for art has come to the notice of a new gallery owner who wants
to feature and sell her paintings. A couple who has moved into her
building offer to watch her baby while she works. A new love enters her
life. But with all the opportunities, there have been attempts made on
her daughter's life. It becomes clear that someone wants her dead.
When she suddenly disappears, Cassandra will do everything she can and
for as long as necessary to find her daughter. She will hire anyone who
will look, even though some mysteriously don't return. Her need to find
her or at least find what happened, consumes her life.
Kacey Ryker is her last hope. He wants the job for personal reasons that
tugs at Cassandra's heart but makes her think she should turn him down.
One side of her knows it's time to let go, but how can she resist one
last time to search? She agrees, but hopes he makes it home, alive.
