Who is James? He has haunted Justine in her dreams for the past year. But these dreams only happen when she is wearing the necklace she found in England during the family vacation a year ago. Sometimes he appears to her in an ancient castle, and other times in a present-day hospital setting. She doesn't know who he is, she only knows she loves him.

Only a junior in high school, her family decides to move to England for two years so her father, a world-famous heart surgeon, can teach at the Oxford School of Medicine. At first, Justine was upset about the move but then realized this offered the perfect opportunity to find out if James was real or just a figment of her imagination. She's not sure how to locate him but has two years to try.

Her dreams become a reality when she sees James standing before her in the garden at their new home. How did he find her? How will she react when she sees him? Will they ever travel through the portal and return to the magic of Wiltshire?
