When they get bored on long journeys, children from various regions of
Latin America sing a song that goes "An elephant was balancing on a
spider's web / as he saw that it resisted, he went to call on another
elephant." On the next lap, two elephants do the dangerous feat, and so
on until they reach their destination, or someone gets tired of singing.
In this book, the author takes this popular rhyme and makes it comical
when the elephant is joined by a rhinoceros, a giraffe, and many other
animals that they test the resistance of the cobweb. When it ends up
falling, as expected, the story begins again.
