EXPRESSIONIST PLAYS. HE SERVED IN 1919 FOR SIX DAYS AS PRESIDENT OF THE
SHORT-LIVED BAVARIAN SOVIET REPUBLIC, AND WAS IMPRISONED FOR FIVE YEARS
FOR HIS ACTIONS. DURING HIS DAYS IN THE PRISON TOLLER WROTE LETTERS TO
