In ordinary language, a crime is an unlawful act punishable by a state
or other authority. The term crime does not, in modern criminal law,
have any simple and universally accepted definition, though statutory
definitions have been provided for certain purposes.
As we have seen, many criminal matters that have occurred in India have
had a very vast effect on the minds of the people. In addition, some of
them changed the country's laws and inserted new provisions.
This book contains chapters on criminal cases that we will study and
learn about.
