This vintage book contains a biography of Tom Sayers, first published in
1866. Tom Sayers (1826 - 1865) was a famous English bare-knuckle boxer.
During the time of Sayer's career, there existed no official weight
divisions in the sport of boxing. Even though Sayers was only five feet
and eight inches tall, and never went above 150 pounds, he routinely had
fights with significantly larger men. Within a career that lasted for
eleven years, Sayers only lost one of sixteen fights. This fascinating
and detailed biography contains accounts of each of these fights, all
taken from contemporary reports, personal anecdotes, and related
literature. Many antiquarian texts such as this, are increasingly hard
to come by and expensive, and it is with this in mind that we are
republishing this book now in an affordable, modern, high quality
edition. It comes complete with a specially commissioned new biography
of the author.
