Gunhild Walde Mikkelson has worked as a teacher and counselor at the
high school level for many years. The last ten to fifteen years she has
seen a change in the younger generation. No longer carefree and
believing in themselves, more and more they are filled with apprehension
and worry about the future. The pressure to perform and be successful
have them doubting themselves. The struggle for "the truth" about one's
self and about the world takes place in the mind of every human. Which
perspective one chooses and how one deals with external events is
crucial for how we cope with ourselves, the external world and becoming
our own person.
