An historical query into "what if's" of revolutionary politics at the
time of the French Revolution and the Polish Partiions
The subject of the book "Hanging " is the unknown episodes of the
Kosciuszko Uprising - the hanging of traitors in Warsaw - and the lost
chance of Poles to radically change their history. The Polish and
Lithuanian citizens had their Constitution overthrown by Russia and some
Polish Magnates that resulted in the second and third Polish Partitions.
Some traitors were caught and hung, others were sentenced to death and
hung in effigy. This book traces the event which, as Jaroslaw Marek
Rymkiewicz claims, could have led to the execution of King Stanislaw
August.
