This early work by Henry De Vere Stacpoole was originally published in
1910 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory
biography. 'The Drums of War' is a novel set in Europe at wartime. Henry
De Vere Stacpoole was born on April 9th 1863 in Kingstown, Ireland.
After finishing his education, Stacpoole travelled widely, taking up a
job as a ship's doctor. His time spent at sea undoubtedly inspired many
stories and characters in his later writing. Stacpoole's writing career
started with the publication of The Intended in 1894, but his most
famous work is The Blue Lagoon, a romance novel published in 1908.
