The book covers in detail the design and development of the Hawker
Hunter jet fighter from its inception in the late 1940s. The route of
the Sea Hawk, P.1052, P.1081 and P.1067 prototypes, is examined in depth
using Hawker Aircraft diaries and documents from the National Archives,
little of which has been published before. Some flight test reports for
the P.1052/P.1081 are also featured, and there is extensive coverage of
each version, plus reviews of one-off airframes (area-rule, P.1109
Firestreak missile carriers, etc.), and finally unbuilt developments and
versions of the Hunter. A list of UK squadrons and users is included,
and a large number of photos and 3-view drawings are available,
including models of unbuilt designs.
