A novel based around the amusing antics of a group of characters in a
village in the South Wales Valleys. One of the main characters is Fred,
the landlord of the Plough Inn, a born practical joker and also a grave
digger who, with the assistance of others, can turn a harmless situation
into a rip-roaring escapade without even trying, to the hilarity of
everyone in the pub. While some of the episodes are entirely fictitious,
others are very loosely based on the ridiculous exploits of certain
members of the 1960s pub fraternity in the author's home village. This
