In 1914 Dafydd Price and Jack Davies leave the South Wales mining
valleys to fight in France. One is killed and the other is badly
injured. The traumatised soldier is returned to a Cardiff hospital and
is nursed by Louisa, the daughter of a wealthy ship owner. The soldier's
love of singing aids his recovery and he is encouraged to pursue a
musical career. He becomes a celebrated tenor, but can he and Louisa
