It's how we get on, if we amount to something and then something happens and we can show that we mean what we've been saying. All the same, we're changed and whenever we look back, we realize we've changed to the good. A story tells us what happened but a novel persuades us to take a stand. Both play a role in this quite ordinary little book, which does not use magic to captivate the reader's attention.
