Originally published in 1896 much of the information in this early works
is still useful and practical today. In addition to the illustrated
feature for exhibiting the nature and practical application of X-rays,
and for simplifying the descriptions, the book involves the disclosure
of the facts and principles relating to the phenomena occurring between
and around charged electrodes, separated by different gaseous media at
various pressures. The specific aim is the treatment of the radiant
energy developed within and from a discharge tube, the only source of
X-rays....... Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back
to the 1900's and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly
expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high
quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
