This magazine-style artist's book by the European artist Nicole Tran Ba
Vang (born 1963) parodies the stereotypes and prejudices of advertising
and fashion, exploring the fantasies of a consumer society. In the
manner of Surrealist poet Joyce Mansour, she takes advertising and
fashion magazines as her medium and revisits or "reviews" aspects of
popular culture through a dexterous game of manipulation. Revue
invites us to explore the fantasies of a society of images and
consumerism and to question the representations of popular culture and
the power of the media on our tastes, our values, our bodies and our
minds. Collaborators include writers, philosophers, artists and art
historians such as Marie Darrieussecq, Françoise Gaillard, Cécile
Godefroy, Guy Limone, Michel Nuridsany, Jérôme Sans and David Zerbib.
