The topic of this diploma thesis concentrates on an existing building
located in Graz-Goesting. This particular edifice is abandoned and has
been unused for several years. It was formerly owned by a shoe
distributing company. In the mid-90's this company moved to another
district and therefore this high-rise office building was closed.
Abandoned for over a decade, it became a very distinctive and well-known
construction in the 13th district. The main goal of this diploma thesis
is to get rid of this current nuisance and to upgrade the site and its
surrounding area. Due to the beneficial location and infrastructure, the
project will include ownership and rental apartments and office spaces.
In addition, the integration of an extended stay hotel has been
researched, which can be attractive for long-term guests. These three
main functions are not only integrated into the existing structure, but
also added as new constructions, which are connected to the existing
building. The Residential and Business Center in Goesting is faced with
the difficult task to fit into the current environment and to create
attractive residential apartments, hotel apartments, and offices.
