There has been a great deal of discussion in recent years about the need
to ensure that teachers are competent in the skills, knowledge and
understanding related especially to the classroom. Reflective Teaching
is believed to be the key towards developing Teacher Professional
Competences - Classroom Competences in particular. This book, therefore,
investigates the effect of the Reflective Teaching Approach on
developing some classroom competences among in-service preparatory
school teachers of English in Egypt. The group of the study consisted of
15 (male and female) teachers. The tools included a questionnaire, an
observation checklist, three scales and the suggested programme (based
on the Reflective Teaching Approach). Results showed that there are
highly significant differences on the pre-post administration of the
observation checklist favoring post-administration. This reflects the
effectiveness of the suggested programme. Recommendations and
suggestions are provided.
