Originally published by Macmillan in 1971, this reading instruction text
is centered around the "Power Construct," a system developed to enable
students to fully comprehend the meaning on the printed page in a
methodical, step-by-step manner. Working independently, at his own pace,
the student is led to discover both the relative importance of one
sentence in relationship to another and the interrelationship of ideas
within the paragraph, selection, or article. Annotations in the margins
guide the reader as he makes these discoveries, and, at the end of each
chapter, a "re-cap" section is provided so that the student may review
and measure his progress.
