This selection of poetry come from the classic work on the lives of the
masters of the Lam Rim lineage: Biographies of the Lamas of the
Teachings on the Steps of the Path to Enlightenment, written by Yongdzin
Yeshe Gyeltsen, Tsechok Ling, Tutor to His Holiness the Eighth Dalai
Lama. They were written throughout Lobsang Chukyi Gyeltsen long life
from the age of 14, and convey the inner progress of the First Panchen
Lama in developing the steps of the path to enlightenment. It also
illustrates how he conducted his life and practice in the external
world. In that sense, these poems are a real example for us to follow,
and this selection was chosen to relate to particular lam rims, or steps
of the path, that we ourselves are working on.
