The general call that lexicography should address the potential needs of
the dictionary users is amply reflected at least in the pedagogical
dictionaries currently available in the market. But these dictionaries
claim to be global in their response to this call. As a matter of fact,
learners' dictionaries are supposed to be compiled taking into
consideration the language needs and problems of specific L1 users. It
is in this way that the future generation of learners' dictionaries will
be able to satisfy their users at optimal level. The present study is
case in point. The author has the unique privilege of having produced

successful M Phil scholars in the areas of linguistics and literature.
