Nicole Ahland (b. 1970) is not interested in the pure representation of
architectonic space but rather in the interaction of light, space, and
time. Her photography always demonstrates rooms devoid of people, rooms
that are shifted into darkness or overexposed from the light. Nicole
Ahland works in analogue form and creates the effects of transparency,
overlay, and soft focus by means of traditional photography only. The
result is images full of sensuous energy and meditative tranquillity.
