English summary: With the naturalismo radical or radical naturalism,
this work rehabilitates a very successful variety of Spanish naturalism
that has been, for ideological reasons, dismissed from the official
canon. On the basis of the novels of Eduardo Lopez Bago (1855-1931) and
Alejandro Sawa (1862-1909), the strategies are investigated through
which the knowledge of new leading science of medicine was narrativized
and instrumentalized for a scientifically sanctioned critique of the
Catholic religion. At the same time the unconditional implementation of
the poetics of the early Emile Zola in Spanish naturalism, ignored till
now, can be attested. The complex issues of analysis place this work
comprehensively within the context of the cultural struggles: that
international confrontation of Knowledge and Faith that took place in
the last quarter of the 19th century and whose political and social
relevance in culturally oriented study is continually emphasized in the
scholarship. German description: Mit dem 'naturalismo radical'
rehabilitiert die Arbeit eine uberaus erfolgreiche, jedoch aus
ideologischen Grunden aus dem offiziellen Kanon ausgeblendete Variante
des spanischen Naturalismus. Anhand der Romane von Eduardo Lopez Bago
(1855-1931) und Alejandro Sawa (1862-1909) werden hierbei Strategien
untersucht, mit denen das Wissen der neuen Leitwissenschaft Medizin
narrativiert und fur eine - ?wissenschaftlich sanktionierte' - Kritik an
der katholischen Glaubenswelt instrumentalisiert wird. Damit kann
zugleich die bislang in Abrede gestellte bedingungslose Umsetzung der
Romanpoetik des fruhen Emile Zola im spanischen Naturalismus
nachgewiesen werden. Die komplexen Gegenstande der Analyse stellen die
Arbeit ubergreifend in den Kontext des europaischen Kulturkampfes, jener
transnationalen Konfrontation von 'Wissen' und 'Glauben' im letzten
Drittel des 19. Jahrhunderts, deren politische und soziale Relevanz eine
kulturwissenschaftlich ausgerichtete Forschung immer deutlicher
hervorhebt.
