The study of prejudice and racism is one of the oldest interests of
social psychology and continues as a major area of interest in the
social sciences, in general. This is the first volume in the
well-renowned book series Nebraska Symposium on Motivation, which is the
longest running symposium series in psychology. Contributing authors are
leading scholars who are at the forefront of research on the
motivational aspects of prejudice and racism and the impact of such
forces on the targets of racial bias. Currently, there has been renewed
interest in the motivational aspects of prejudice and racism. The topic
of racism and prejudice continues to be a significant issue for
researchers and policymakers not just in the United States, but in the
rest of the world as well.
