This dictionary spans the period from the 16th to the 20th century and
includes Greek and Cypriot artists, expatriates from Europe, the
Americas, Australia, but also foreign artists who live and work in
Greece. The dictionary features painters, sculptors, printmakers,
ceramists, cartoonists, performance art, video art, computer art,
installation art and much more besides. The work is enriched by color
illustrations of works by artists from museums and galleries across
Greece, public and private collections, and also from the personal
collections of the artists themselves. This work is the product of
extensive archival research and the cooperation of specialists and
researchers: 80 art historians, scholars, professors and critics
cooperated in the preparation of entries (X. Christou, N. Zias, S.
Lydakis, H. Mykoniatis, A. Kotidis, M. Konstantoudaki, N. Loizides, N.
Xatzinikolaou etc.). The work is enriched by detailed bibliographic and
reference information.
