This book is part of a series on historical female figures. It features
the mistress of Lord Nelson, Emma Hamilton, born Amy Lyon to a
blacksmith in Cheshire, England. She lived a colourful life, being
mistress to a number of men. She married the uncle of one of her lovers,
Sir William Hamilton and, after the two invited Lord Nelson to their
country residence, she fell in love with the Admiral and they three
lived together openly in a ménage à trois that captivated the public.
After the death of one, then another of her partners, Emma ended her
days in poverty.
