The second level of a series of controlled vocabulary readers for children at the end of their first school year. The Level 2 books use 20 tricky words, and 12 pages of text with typically 2 sentences per page (where Level 1 had 11 tricky words, 8 pages of text and just 1 sentence per page). However the books have just the first 42 letter sounds introduced in Jolly Phonics, with none of the alternative spellings of vowels (so 'ai' as in rain, but not 'a-e' as in 'make', or 'ay' as in 'day'). The Level 2 books continue the high interest level of the books in Level 1, with the same three series: Inky Mouse and Friends, General Fiction (including some classics) and Nonfiction.
