Total Productive Maintenance has now become the most desirable
methodology and considered as one of the significant operation strategy
to increase the Overall Equipment Efficiency and to reduce production
losses in many firms. But lack of knowledge regarding implementation of
new strategy may develop the risk to unsuccessful implementation because
every sheet metal industry cannot find it appropriate in all aspects
which also give rise to their fear to failure. The author has
contributed many researches while data collection and observed that in
some cases the industrialists hesitate to bring changes in setup and
maintenance scheduling but on the other hand they also want to take the
best out of the equipments/ machines and workers without exceeding the
limits of exhaustion. So to remove the barriers, the researchers have
performed various experiments to bring the necessary changes in
scheduling, setup up and maintenance and has understood the criteria to
compete in market/ business by applying Total Productive Maintenance to
increase the overall equipment effectiveness of the machines in the
sheet metal industry.
