Events are one of the most exciting and one of the fastest growing forms
of tourism. The aim of this research is to determine the impact of local
events on the travel motivation of South German ski and snowboard
instructors. It outlines the existing literature about Events and
Motivation and discusses the existing research paradigm and data
collecting methods. A hypothesis was worked out by the researcher and a
questionnaire was sent to South German ski and snowboard instructors to
examine the influence of events on the decision making process and to
identify the change of travel motivation by events. Addressed at
ski-resort managers and at event organisers will this work of research
help to identify the main reasons to travel to a ski-resort as well as
the importance of events in ski-resorts.
