Monroe "Roe" Pearson was born and raised in the Martin Luther King Homes
housing projects on Chicago's South side. At a young age he was already
a boss and part owner of a large street operation, netting unheard of
amounts of cash daily. In the "jets", every day becomes a struggle to
remain at the top of the pile. The pursuit of money, fast cars and
willing women lands Roe in the federal penitentiary at an early age.
During his prison time, the projects Roe knew and loved so well are
demolished down to the last row house. Years later Roe is released, and
now he has to deal with the reality of the only place he's ever lived
being gone. Soon enough he realizes not just the buildings are missing,
but so are the people and their way of life.
