Hillsboro is the county seat in Washington County, Oregon. The early
economy of the community was based on agriculture, dairy, and lumber. In
the 1950s, technology companies started moving to Hillsboro, which
resulted in the area eventually being nicknamed the Silicon Forest.
Intel now has a massive presence in Hillsboro with over 20,000
employees. In 2021, Hillsboro was ranked by Livability.com as the
seventh-best place to live in the United States.
