The measure of a system's maintainability, availability, reliability and
maintenance support performance is known as dependability. Some of its
characteristics are safety, durability and security. Attributes,
threats, and means are the major three elements of dependability.
Attributes refer to the qualities of a system. Availability,
reliability, safety, integrity and maintability are dependability
attributes. The objects or phenomenon which affect a system and result
in a drop in its dependability are termed as threats. Means are
constructed in order to break the Fault-Error-Chains so as to increase
the dependability of a system. The four different means are prevention,
removal, forecasting and tolerance. This book unravels the recent
studies in the field of dependability engineering. It explores all the
important aspects of this discipline in the present day scenario. This
book will provide comprehensive knowledge to the readers.
