Since time immemorial, mankind has been ravaged by various diseases. If
it was the plague & cholera in the medieval times, it was Malaria,
Tuberculosis & Influenza which caused & are still causing widespread
havoc in the century. With time, newer diseases such as malaria,
tuberculosis and certain drug resistant strains such as Ebola, Lassa
fever, Hanta Virus and HIV have come into existence. One that stands
apart due to its certain facility, global spread & its capacity at
striking at the very roots of human civilization is AIDS. In a very
short span of 2 decades, AIDS has spread its tentacles far & wide & is
taking a heavy toll of human lives & is expected to be the single
biggest killer in the near future.
