The visual world of celebrated author Frederic Tuten is a break from the
expected. On textural cardboard and canvas, dream-like landscapes and
table settings in places as far-flung as Tangier and Tuscany play host
to a parade of characters, objects, and shapes that converge in
imaginative, sometimes mysterious compositions. In Tuten's world,
rendered in ink, coloured pencil, crayon, pastel, and, more recently,
oil paint, the imagination reigns supreme, along with the sheer joy of
his artistic intuition. The catalogue compiles a vibrant selection of
Tuten's recent paintings and drawing and also includes short stories
written by the artist to accompany his works and an interview with the
curator Hans Ulrich Obrist. Co-published with Todd.
