This book tries to reflect intelligently on the nature of participation
of humans, and their relations in the field of forest. It deals with the
earlier social structures of the forest and explores answers to the
question how dependents of the forest and the working of the forest
department as an institutional modern mechanism and their
interconnections deals with forest and managing the people. The study
gives emphasis on the aspects of participation in forest management and
the involvement of all agencies within. It also tries to problamatise
the question of being a researcher and a participant in the whole
process of Participatory Forest Management. This study through an
interdisciplinary approach, has toiled to bring out field level
realities from the day to day lives of the forest dependents.
