Cold chamber die casting process is designed to achieve high dimensional
accuracy by forcing molten metal under high pressure into reusable
moulds called dies. The present research work is aimed at parametric
optimization of process parameter in cold chamber die casting for an
industrial component (crank case). Three controllable factors of the
cold chamber die casting process (namely: 1st phase pressure, 2nd phase
pressure and limit switch position) were studied at three levels each by
Taguchi's parametric approach and single-response optimization was
conducted to identify the main factors controlling surface hardness
(SH), dimensional accuracy (Δd) and weight of cast component (W).
