Through 250 illustrations taken from five fascinating scrapbooks, this
book reveals the wonderful world of painter and illustrator Edward
Bawden. Edited selections from the books, which contain everything from
stamps, photographs, Christmas cards, letters, newspaper cuttings and
drawings to other assorted 'odds and ends' uncover his very conscious
awareness of Surrealism and the work of professional designers. Some
pages are beautiful, some instructive and some baffling, but together
they give us an insight into the mind of one of the 20th century's most
reclusive and English of artists.
