A new direction for policy and action is outlined in this
reconsideration of the theoretical framework and application of social
work. A holistic, inclusive vision of social work is presented to usher
in a change from a self-centered, anticollectivist paradigm to a
mutually beneficial, community-focused worldview. Criticized are the
assumptions, values, and beliefs that have guided the dominant
worldview`s support of environmental devastation. Concerns for
sustainability, social justice, and global consciousness guide this
revision of social work.
