Drawn from Life: People on Paper contains 60 drawing masterworks from
the collections of the Arts Council and the British Council, celebrating
images of people captured on paper. This survey includes numerous works
by some of the biggest names of twentieth and twenty-first century
British art, including: Frank Auerbach, Peter Blake, Lucian Freud,
Elizabeth Frink, Antony Gormley, Richard Hamilton, Barbara Hepworth,
David Hockney, Howard Hodgkin, Gwen John, Wyndham Lewis, Henry Moore,
Eduardo Paulozzi, Walter Sickert, Stanley Spencer, and Euan Uglow.
Martin Herbert writes an in-depth essay on the development of drawings
of people in post-war British art. Published to coincide with a touring
exhibition opening at The Collection, Lincoln (26 February - 17 April
2016), Northumbria University Gallery (23 April - 19 June 2016), Galway
Museum (2 July - 14 August 2016), Kirkby Gallery, Knowsley (27 August -
23 October 2016), and Abbot Hall, Kendal (29 October - late December
2016).
