This book was created to provide the man in the field, be he a
transmitter network planner, a service technician at a transmitter site,
a technician responsible for MPEG-2 encoders and multiplexers in a
studio or a playout center, an engineer working in a development
laboratory or even a student, with an insight into the technology and
measuring techniques of digital television. It concentrates deliberately
on the practical things of importance and attempts to include as little
mathematical "ballast" as possible.
