With this work comes the first detailed presentation of the historical
dispossession of power of the German Social Unity Party and
democratization up until the 1990 March elections. The text is
supplemented by various graphs that quantitatively capture and evaluate
the voice of the people. Using Saxony, the pacemaker of the revolution,
as an example, the development in counties, districts, municipalities,
and enterprises is described in comparison to international and national
policies that were the main driving forces behind development. It leaves
no doubt that the populous was the main driver behind the ensuing
events. It thus becomes evident why development didn't stop with a
renewal of the GDR, but led to a German unification. German text.
