Published on occasion of 'Flowers and Monsters', a solo exhibition of
works presented by Daniel Crews-Chubb at Gallery Weekend Beijing (23
June - 24 July 2022). The book includes a transcribed conversation of
Daniel Crews-Chubb with Lu Mingjun. The catalogue is an experience
flipping through the different shaped and sized pages which show
Crews-Chubb's monsters swimming in pools of empty white space executed
with slanted black lines and the monsters relate to ancient legends such
as the sphinx and the water serpent. The Flowers series, by contrast,
celebrates uncontrolled colour, spilling patches of artificial pinks and
oranges in a tapestry of paint. English and Chinese text.
