Pharmacology is the branch of biomedical science that deals with the
discovery, research and characterization of chemicals that show
biological effects. It is concerned with the explanation of cellular and
organismal functions in relation to these chemicals. It examines the
interactions that occur between a living organism and chemicals that
affect both normal and abnormal biochemical functions. It also includes
drug composition, synthesis and drug design, cellular communication,
molecular diagnostic, therapy, chemical biology and medical applications
and antipathogenic capabilities. There are two main branches of
pharmacology - pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics. Pharmacodynamics
studies the chemicals with biological receptors and pharmacokinetics
studies absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of chemicals
from the biological systems. This book presents researches and studies
performed by experts across the globe. It will also provide interesting
topics for research which interested readers can take up. Students,
researchers, experts and all associated with pharmaceutical science will
benefit alike from this book.
