Ciudad de Mexico represents a privileged context for understanding the
current structure of the development models of Latin American society,
situated between historical heritage and current challenges. In this
volume, the lectures of experts in various fields enable the three
subsequent paths of study: on the regulatory criteria that govern city
administration; on its development in comparison with current
sustainability parameters; on the paradigmatic characters of a
neighbourhood like Santa Fe. The collection of these analyses, made by
Sinderesi School, intends to shed light on the many elements at stake.
They particularly aim at describing the attempts of a "Latin American
way" to configure a modern city, "on human scale", in this era of great
changes that invite us to consider a different model of social
organization and development. As Pope Francis said at the end of his
Apostolic Visit in 2016: "many men and women, with their everyday
efforts, make it possible for this Mexican society not to be left in
darkness".
