Evidence have shown that dental caries has existed prehistorically. It had been mystery then, it is a mystery today and will be tomorrow too. It is still a most common disease affecting human population. Researches are going to detect & prevent dental caries, assuring teeth to remain in a healthy state and to maintain healthy oral environment throughout the life span of human. In today's world various diagnostic aids are available to diagnose dental caries in its initial stage.
