Papers derived from a program entitled, 'Dead Ends and Open Doors: The
State of Music Librarianship, ' which was presented by the Personnel
Committee of the Music Library Association at the 1988 Annual Meeting.
Topics addressed include the unique aspects of music librarianship (both
in general and in technical services in particular), the growth and
diversity of the profession as shown by job trends, a profile of persons
planning to enter the field, the response of the library to the
perceived needs of students interested in music librarianship, and the
question of longevity and stability of practitioners of the profession
