Updated to reflect the most recent exams, this manual explains the
structure of writing proficiency exams given to college students in
California.
Students in the State University System must pass a writing proficiency
exam as a prerequisite for receiving a bachelor's degree. The book
reviews different essay types, instructs on writing an impromptu essay,
explains how essays are scored, and advises on avoiding the mistakes
that result in failed tests. Also included are representative essays,
advice to ESL students, and three model tests that reflect California
writing proficiency standards. Both model tests consist of an essay
question and a set of multiple-choice questions.
